En Route to Dublin, Ireland

Before I expound on the title of this blog entry, allow me to share how excited I am to be publishing my very first website! This is a project that I have been brainstorming for quite some time now, but wanted to be sure that I had myself sufficiently organized from a creative standpoint to go online. At any rate, here you have it! I've created ShannonChristine.com in order to provide you with:

  1. The most up-to-date information about my intensive platform work in Lima, Ohio, New York City, and Dublin, Ireland
  2. Daily issues and observations unfolding in the world of health and fitness, and
  3. Fun and exciting NEWStalgic stories about every adventure I have...no matter where I'm at in the world!
Now that I've shared my aims with you, let's talk about the fact that I am currently on Flight CO 126 S, sitting in exit row seat 15D, after having departed from Newark-Liberty International Airport earlier this evening...that's right, I'm en route to The Emerald Isle!

Living, studying, and working in Ireland has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember (in case you didn't know, I'm nearly 100% Irish!). After jumping through what felt like 100 hoops of applications and interviews, I received my official acceptance last spring to study abroad in Dublin, Ireland from late August until mid-December.

This extraordinary opportunity—this MILESTONE in my life—is allowing me to totally immerse myself in a new and foreign culture. I am also gaining a sense of complete independence as I travel abroad all by myself; I was the lone student from Fordham University accepted into this program, and am only joining a handful of other East Coast college students once I arrive in Ireland. Furthermore, I am so excited to have secured a spot working full-time at an Irish political-talk radio station during my stay.

Although I have seized plenty of "New York City opportunities" to grow and learn, I am certain that Ireland will expand my mind by broadening my understanding of the world. NYC may be an international city, but after studying there for 2 years, it's time to take my learning to the next level in ways I cannot fully anticipate or predict!

Until I write next, I would simply like to close by saying "THANK YOU!" for dropping by! Please be sure to return for frequent updates, useful information, and all of my latest adventures!!
