Blizzards and Malts and Moolattés, OH MY!
The students were also absolutely THRILLED to learn of their "debut" in Four Points Magazine, spotlighting all of their hard work and dedication to the "Five-Month Fitness Challenge" I set before them on February 1st. Additionally, our ongoing efforts with the "Breakfast in the Classroom" initiative were noticed, which meant so much to entire Lima City School System. On behalf of every school official, teacher and volunteer who continues to put our children's nutritional needs first...I simply cannot thank Julie Anne Wieland of Four Points Magazine enough for helping us further our cause!

Alright, It's Time for an Update!...
Last Saturday was an especially exciting day; the first three episodes of "Wish Upon A Song" were taped at Howard Johnson Hotel's fantastic performance space, where we had been holding our weekly auditions since early February. It was a full day of hard work, high energy, and lots of fun shared by all! Hopefully our viewership will find the 2010 season of "Wish Upon A Song" to be a quality, entertaining product!
Below are a few photos and videos taken throughout the day by my #1 confidant: my mom! :)
Before taping Episode 1:

During Episode 2 (The first half of the Kids Grand Championship)
During Episode 2 (The second half of the Kids Grand Championship, and the announcement of our 2010 winner!)
A SNEAK PEEK into Episode 1, which focuses on introducing me as the new host of "Wish Upon A Song" to our viewership. This video is simply a quick, three-song-medley including snippets of "Top of the World", "For All We Know", and "I Just Fall in Love Again" by The Carpenters.
A SNEAK PEEK into Episode 1: "Superstar" (I know I've posted videos of me singing this song before, i.e. at the Miss Greater Butler County Scholarship Program, however this is MY FAVORITE SONG of The Carpenters!!)
...And since this blog entry has been covering all things "Wish Upon A Song" thus far (haha), I wanted to share our new promotional commercial with you. This will be airing on WLIO NBC Lima/FOX/ABC/CBS all throughout the month of May.
In other news, I am so excited about Miss Ohio 2010 Forum Weekend! It's hard to believe that IT'S FINALLY TIME for this year's events to begin. I remember last year when all of the 2009 contestants and I braved the outdoors-y, overnight camping experience for the first time at Forum. We may have been slightly skeptical, but we had a blast!
Above and beyond everything else, Forum is key for contestant bonding. I have a short story that I love to share about our current Miss Ohio, Erica Gelhaus, which took place during this weekend last year. Erica and I spent quite a bit of time talking about a common experience we both had awaiting us in the near future: studying abroad! Her destination: Italy, mine: Ireland. The more we chatted and the closer we became, we had it all planned out that we'd visit each other in our respective locations (or so we thought! As we all know, Erica's well deserved win at Miss Ohio last summer postponed her study abroad plans). I'm not exactly sure how this next bit began, but somehow during Forum we began "The Daily Hug Quota," where we would randomly approach each other with a big, bear hug at least four times per day (LOL!). This is a tradition that continued all throughout Miss Ohio Week 2009, and even to this day. I suppose in mentioning this, the point I'd like to make is that you never know when a wonderful friendship might blossom. I personally find that Forum weekend offers this very opportunity for the members of our Miss Ohio family.
Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the sunshine and when you have a moment, come back soon for more updates! :)
